On a recent trip to LA (lower Alabama), I visited the USS Alabama, a World War II-era battleship that sits in Mobile Bay. I wouldn’t have said I’m a person who gets excited about touring a battleship, but it was a wonderful excursion. I spent about three hours on the self-paced, self-guided tour with my family, though we easily could have spent another couple of hours. The most fun of the outing, photographically-speaking, was the constant change in lighting conditions as I moved through the ship: from very bright outdoors on deck, to very dark nooks and crannies. Here are two of my favorites from the day to highlight those extremes.
Kiddo enjoyed getting up close and personal with history. Shells stacked up below deck.
