Meet Your Coach
Clara Harris has been on the stage since she could walk. There is no place she is more at home than when performing or speaking – whether that be live, on film, or behind a mic. She brings her decades of experience of performing and many, many auditions to her coaching for high school students. Her understanding of the unique ways that a monologue audition is both a performance, and also a vastly different performance than that of being in a play, helps high school actors navigate their monologue audition experience with college & program auditions.
Notable roles include Dark Waters with Mark Ruffalo and The Old Man and the Gun with Robert Redford and Casey Affleck. She has also appeared in dozens of short and independent films, including Nazareth, directed by Anson Williams (Happy Days) and featuring Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), and the upcoming Damaged Goods (fall 2021). Favorite stage roles include Original Cast of the musical adaptation of Wiley and the Hairy Man by Suzan Zeder, music by Harry Pickens; Miss Prism in The Importance of Being Earnest; and sharing the stage with her son in his theatrical debut in StageOne Family Theatre’s The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. A voice actor and audiobook narrator, Clara is often behind the mic, including her podcasts: Great Monologues Coaching Call Podcast, Yoga with Clara, and Night Owl Theatre, an audio drama podcast.
Clara has been honored by the Kentucky Arts Council with their Emerging Artist Award (Playwright) and is a member of their Teaching Artist Directory. She is also a Kentucky Foundation for Women grantee, most recently for her audio drama project looking at the role of women in mining communities in Kentucky and Cornwall, UK.
A 500-hour certified yoga teacher, Clara’s acting coaching is infused with mindfulness and breathing practices that support the mental and emotional preparation for auditions. If not on stage or in the studio, Clara’s favorite place to be is camping and hiking with her rescue hound, Copper.
